Maintenance Technician – Grand Rapids, MI

With 27 facilities across the U.S, they handle end-to-end commercialization, research and development, food production, and packaging for major consumer brands. The Maintenance Technician performs diversified mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of machines, equipment, and plant facilities, including scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency repairs. This role also conducts regular preventive maintenance and maintains supporting documentation for all PM activities.

2nd shift: 2:30PM - 11:00PM (M-F), 3rd shift: 11:00PM - 7:00AM (Su-Th) and every other weekend

Weekend work is required.

What you will get to do:

  • Conduct maintenance according to skill level and pursuant to safety policies and procedures.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make-adjustments.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those unusual situations to the maintenance manager.
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office, as well as work order systems. (EAM)
  • Perform work in a safe manner and use Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • What will make you successful:

    • Completed or working toward a 2-year trades degree and/or 4 years of plant maintenance experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Must be 18 years of age
    • Able to read, write, and speak English; bilingual is a plus
    • Effective communicator with the ability to take direction from the Maintenance Manager and collaborate with line workers, leads, supervisors, and the Plant Manager
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Highly motivated, flexible, and possesses creative problem-solving abilities
    • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Proficient in welding and fabrication with a full understanding of 3-phase electrical systems and motor controls; skilled in troubleshooting control system inputs and outputs
    • Technician Level II: Experience with basic PLC's and can troubleshoot electrical systems (starters fuses, contacts, relays) experience with compressors systems, air cylinders, sensors, hydraulic systems (pumps, valves, pressure cylinders). Building maintenance (small installations, light fixtures, plumbing, boilers).

      Technician Level III: Experience with advanced electrical - resolving electrical issues, reading and writing electrical diagrams, reading mechanical blueprints, building small panels. PLC - check inputs, outputs, understand ladder diagrams, basic drive programming (Powerflex 525) basic machining, fabricating, welding. Understand thermocouple operation & tuning.
