Maintenance Technician

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks across mechanical and building systems without a high degree of specialization in one trade. Focused on maintaining various systems and supporting facility operations.

Responsibility:

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and operational issues.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery, including cranes, paint mix systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, paint ovens, air make-ups, water coolers, among others.
  • Perform plant and facility maintenance in line with lean principles and 5S initiatives.
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment as needed.
  • Close work orders accurately using the maintenance system.
  • Maintain all equipment in a safe, clean, and functional condition.
  • Work at heights and complete mandatory in-house training (forklift, crane, mobile platforms, lockout/tagout).
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and respond to on-call and overtime requests.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Academic/Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of repair experience within an industrial setting.
  • Can interpret schematic drawings (mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
  • Ability in using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
  • Able to evaluate equipment conditions and collaborate on small equipment modifications.
  • Robotics experience is an asset.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Forklift operation experience would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal codes and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs with the assistance of a lifting device
  • Ability to effectively use hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, attention to detail
  • Physically demanding – bending, crouching, walking, standing for extended periods of time
  • Highly organized, proactive, can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent time management skills
