About the role

The Management Accountant supports the Advisory Care & Partnerships line of business with a budgeted revenue of $71 million and the Hammond Innovation business, with a R&D budget cost of $4 million.

Key focus areas include month end processing/production of financial results; support in the preparation of financial reporting (acquittals) for Federal Government contracts, ensuring compliance and transparency; interpret financial information including variances and trends, translating data into strategic recommendations; support in constructing annual budgets for Government contracts and ad hoc business cases; and take a proactive role in identifying opportunities for process improvement, cost optimisation, and operational efficiencies across finance and business functions.

This is a permanent position based at St Leonards with hybrid opportunities.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and end of year reports. Identify and implement improvements in current procedures to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy

  • Prepare analyses; provide insight to variances and trends and deliver strategic recommendations to drive business outcomes

  • Support in developing the annual acquittal workpapers (year-end) and performance report (mid-year) to the Department.

  • Collaborate with the Financial Controller on regulatory reporting and compliance matters.

  • Work with the Head of FP&A, Enabling Business Partner and GM Healthcare & Hospitals to deliver budgets, forecasts and reporting within set timeframes, aligning financial planning with strategic priorities

  • Manage the processing of General Ledger journals, corporate allocations, reconciliation of operating systems to the General ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Liaise with the Corporate Finance Team and external/internal auditors to support audit and review processes

  • Coordinate and support the annual budget and forecasting processes, engaging Business Managers and Accountants to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and entering data in Workday Adaptive Planner

  • Prepare Power Points presentations or Enabling Business Partner and GM Finance HealthCare & Hospitals, communicating financial results and trends for monthly Business Partner forums, quarterly business reviews and budget/forecast meetings

  • Formulation of Government grant applications on behalf of HammondCare as opportunity arises, and liaising and partnering with program managers to ensure appropriate resourcing is applied for in grant applications

  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects, including financial modelling for new initiatives and business transformation

  • Provide collaborative support and serve as a reliable backup for team members to ensure continuity of operations

  • Develop reports in Workday and Office connect

About You

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action

  • 2-3 years practical experience in a similar corporate role

  • Degree in relevant field

  • CPA or CA qualified or working towards

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to a range of audiences, from senior executives to junior staff

  • Ability to deal with internal & external stakeholders

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

  • Strong administrative and computer skills, exposure to SUN and Workday systems advantageous

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Empathy and patience

Desirable

  • Exposure to the Aged Care Sector advantageous

  • Experience with Not for Profit organisation

  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning is an advantage
