Position Overview:
The Quality Assurance Manager plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance program designed to ensure
quality production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties
personally, or through subordinate supervisors. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and
maintaining Quality Assurance Program and HACCP system, analyzing customer contact trends, production data,
and developing strategies and programs for improved product safety quality and productivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
- Interprets quality assurance philosophy to key personnel in the organization.
- Implements, maintains and ensures the integrity of the plant food safety and quality program.
- Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
- Organizes and conducts internal quality audits.
- Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
- Monitors the adequacy of food safety and quality plans with actions as needed.
- Assists in verifying and investigating non-conformances.
- Identifies and evaluates quality problems and recommend solutions.
- Evaluates, verifies and reports the implementation of corrective and preventive action.
- Ensures that needed recourses are provided and training is completed for personnel performing quality related activities.
- Reviews all data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
- Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
- Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
- Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
- Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
- Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
- Plays an active role on quality management teams within the organization.
- Designs and implements quality assurance training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
- Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages 5-12 Team Members in the Quality Assurance Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
