Job Summary: The Material Handling Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement, storage, and control of materials and parts throughout the manufacturing facility. This role ensures seamless flow of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods to support production operations while optimizing space utilization, labor efficiency, and equipment usage.

Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all material handling activities within the facility
- Ensure timely movement of raw materials to production lines and finished goods to shipping
- Optimize material flow to minimize delays, bottlenecks, and handling time
- Monitor and improve internal logistics processes
- Ensure proper material identification, labeling, and tracking
- Maintain inventory accuracy through effective handling processes and system controls
- Coordinate with inventory control and planning teams for material availability
- Manage material handling equipment such as forklifts, conveyors, and automated systems
- Ensure proper maintenance, safety inspections, and utilization of equipment
- Implement and support warehouse management systems (WMS) and barcode/RFID technologies
- Align material handling operations with production schedules
- Ensure continuous supply of materials to prevent production downtime
- Work closely with production, planning, and supply chain teams
- Enforce safety policies and OSHA standards related to material handling and warehouse operations
- Conduct safety training and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce handling costs, and eliminate waste
- Implement lean principles such as 5S, Kanban, and standardized work
- Track and improve KPIs related to handling efficiency and labor productivity
- Supervise and develop material handlers, forklift operators, and warehouse personnel
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Provide training on equipment, safety, and procedures
- Promote teamwork and accountability
Position Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or manufacturing logistics
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience with material handling equipment and warehouse systems
