The Opportunity

As Manager, Ocean Operations, you'll play a critical role in Flexport's mission to make global trade easy for everyone. Flexport today connects over 10,000 clients and suppliers across 109 countries, and you'll lead our ocean gateway operations in Thailand — managing a team of operations specialists while partnering closely with customers, ocean carriers, and trucking providers, as well as cross-functional teams across the company, to drive performance and growth in the market.

What You'll Do

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of ocean operations specialists, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Set clear expectations and support team growth, helping individuals perform at their best
  • Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues, ensuring fast and effective resolution

Operational Execution

  • Use Flexport allocation tools to actively route cargo to ocean carrier contracts with optimal cost, transit time, and allocation availability
  • Prepare presentations and analysis for monthly and quarterly partner review processes
  • Create enablement resources to ensure internal teams can efficiently manage shipments in and out of Thailand

Performance Management

  • Build and maintain an operational performance framework, including processes and tools to measure ocean partner performance across the Thailand market
  • Drive performance management of freight forwarding, customs partners, and ocean carriers using global metrics, targets, dashboards, and reporting
  • Define and refine operational performance and product adoption metrics in alignment with Account Management, Global Operations, and Operational Excellence teams

Partner & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to partners — continuously identifying gaps and developing solutions focused on process standardisation
  • Identify partner training needs and design and execute training programmes to drive operational quality
  • Build strong relationships with global stakeholders, managing competing priorities and influencing outcomes across teams

Continuous Improvement

  • Challenge the status quo when logic and data call for it — if something is broken, take ownership and fix it
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that drive quality and consistency across operations

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
  • 9+ years of experience in professional logistics or supply chain operations
  • 2–3 years of leadership experience managing an operations team
  • Hands-on experience in ocean export operations, particularly TPEB (Trans-Pacific Eastbound) shipments from East Asia to the US and Canada
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate data-driven insights that inform decisions and strategy
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to identify win-win operational and business opportunities
  • Proven experience managing programmes and initiatives end to end
  • A proactive, compliance-first mindset — you understand the importance of operating within a heavily regulated industry
  • Courage to challenge existing processes and drive meaningful change
