Responsible for planning, developing, managing, and directing accounting functions, including oversight of accounts receivable and accounts payable operations, leading and supporting the month-end and year-end financial close processes; maintaining and balancing the general ledger; performing account reconciliations; tracking capital expenditures; and preparing reports, forecasts, and financial plans. Also responsible for collaborating and coordinating accounting activities and projects with other divisions, external agencies, and the general public.Salary: $127,963.40

Position Description
1. Directs, manages, and provides leadership to accounting staff to ensure assigned and delegated work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
2. Assists in the preparation and management of the year-end audit and the annual airport authority budget. Prepares the annual departmental budget and monitors expenditures to ensure budget adherence.
3. Provides oversight and guidance for general accounting operations, including review and approval of journal entries, account reconciliations, pension fund contributions, and investment-related activities. Directs the preparation and presentation of internal and external statistical, accounting, and financial reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with organizational objectives.
4. Maintains accounting records, including the maintenance and analysis of general and subsidiary ledgers, financial reports, and records of fund activities, using generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
5. Ensures the accurate and timely flow of financial data through the subsidiary and general ledger so that accounts are stated correctly. Researches and investigate discrepancies, apparent errors, or unusual circumstances and advise the Director of Finance accordingly.
6. Maintains and analyzes capital spending information and informs management of any related issues and problems through reporting and/or presentation.
7. Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department.
8. Direct and advise assigned personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of work. Provide training and professional development as needed.
9. Maintains reliable and punctual attendance in accordance with scheduled work hours and organizational policies.
10. Participates in system design with the information technology department.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree/equivalent in accounting, finance, economics, public administration or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
EXPERIENCE – Five (5) years’ experience in the accounting field to include familiarity of GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements on fiscal reporting. Demonstrated supervisory/management experience or routinely provides work group guidance and serves as a resource to other employees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of computerized accounting systems, advanced spreadsheet functionality, and database applications. Comprehensive understanding of month-end and year-end financial close processes, including financial statement preparation and review; general ledger management; and complex account reconciliations. Strong knowledge of capital expenditure planning, tracking, and reporting, as well as records management principles and internal control standards.
Excellent human relations skills to include ability to build effective and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, planning and management skills.
Ability to communicate complex accounting information clearly to ensure understanding by departmental leadership and stakeholders. Ability to analyze and resolve complex accounting processes and problems, implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Ability to interpret and apply governmental procedures and regulations related to accounting and financial compliance. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships that foster trust, confidence, and integrity.
