Manager of Employee Benefits Financial Consulting

About this role:

As the Manager of Financial Consulting, you will be responsible for leading the financial consulting practice for all HUB Colorado’s Employee Benefits practice. The focus is to provide analytics, financial analysis, and return on investment solutions primarily to self-funded and ASO clients. In addition, you will also be responsible for managing all the Financial Consultants on your team.

You will work with or delegate team members to work with the various HUB Colorado offices, EB Sales Executives, Account Executives, and clients to assist with the delivery and presentation of cost management data and associated solutions that provide bottom line impact. You will play a consultative role in large prospect RFP presentations and client renewal presentations where and when appropriate.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with each direct report (Financial Consultant) to establish an agreed upon set of performance goals and individual business plans; work toward implementation protocols with the account teams.

  • Provide feedback, coaching and accountability on a regular basis to Financial Consulting team members so they have an indication of their progress.

  • Evaluate team member performance through the appraisal process on an annual basis.

  • Recommend changes to processes and work products to ensure HUB's reputation as a quality, service-oriented, and value-added organization.

  • Anticipate and adapt to changing business demands – especially in tune with the evolving changes in various client cost management techniques along with self-funding and other associated programs.

  • Measure results against goals and plans for necessary improvements.

  • Help manage a book of business (> 100 ee's or complex accounts) in tandem with Producers and the Account Executives

  • Support new and existing business by matching client needs, cost management solutions, and HUB’s unique strategic sales/technology approach.

  • Delegate assistance to or directly assist Producers/Account Executives in selling to new accounts by demonstrating HUB analytics, alternative risk, and cost management expertise.

  • Train Producers and Account Management team as necessary in applying a basic understanding of our capabilities.

  • Directly support or delegate team support to the Producers and Account Management team in finalist meetings

  • Execute marketing efforts focused on sales/retention initiatives – where financial consulting is a key consideration.

  • Identify client/vendor/other needs and bring them to the attention of regional leadership.

  • Manage carrier/vendor relationships for cost management programs.

  • Understand the budgetary impact of their actions on HUB profitability and act accordingly; and apply the same standards in working with clients.

  • Effectively manage daily expenses including marketing, promotional, training, phone, mailing costs, etc. to comply with budgeted projections for the Financial Consulting team

  • Recommend/implement processes that increase efficiency and/or reduce cost

  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of revenue/expense and cash flow management

What You Bring:

Required:

  • Ability to travel to all Colorado office locations and client sites as needed.

  • College Degree required.

  • Valid Life/Health Insurance Producer License required.

Preferred:

  • 5 + years of experience in employee benefits consulting preferred, ideally with in-depth knowledge of various funding types, underwriting, pharmacy and stop loss contracts, as well as cost management solutions like direct provider contracts, value-based payments, onsite/near site clinics, and captives.

  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits, alternative risk management techniques, and the local market

  • Previous experience in agency and/or staff management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Disclosure required under applicable law in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Washington states: The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 -$150,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
