40Job Description Summary:
Responsible for day-to-day operations, planning, organizing, coordinating and directing Sterile Processing Department and Central Supply Department functions and programs. Responsible for ensuring that such functions are within limitations of laws, regulations and hospital policies and procedures related to specified departments. Assists the Director of Materials Management, in the day to day activities of specified departments. Coordinates assigning and reviewing of work, training and orientation of new staff. Coordinates functions for decontamination, reprocessing and sterilization of instruments. Coordinates equipment maintenance of sterile instrument sets/supplies. Coordinates inventory management processes and durable medical equipment program. Structures record keeping functions to assure compliance with Federal, State and accreditation requirements.Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:
EDUCATION
1. High School graduate or equivalent preferred
2. Supplemental courses in Management, Sterile Processing and Central Supply are strongly preferred
EXPERIENCE
1. Five years experience in theories and/or practice in Sterile Processing required
2. An understanding of the functions and relationships of the Sterile Processing and Central Supply and inventory management knowledge and experience
3. One year of supervisory experience or 3 years in a lead capacity required
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Cert Sterile Proc/Distrib Tech OR Cert Sterile Process Tech Required at hire
PREREQUISITE SKILLS
Demonstrated knowledge of:
1. Principles and practices of Aseptic and Sterile technique
2. Standards and practices of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN)
3. Applicable governing agencies requirements
4. Medical and surgical terminology, supplies and equipment
5. Appropriate computer systems and applications

The posted pay range complies with applicable law and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Individual pay is set by skills, experience, qualifications, and internal/market equity, consistent with MarinHealth’s compensation philosophy. Positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by those agreements.
