The Research Office (RO) delivers central administrative services across a broad spectrum of research support, including grants and funding schemes, research ethics, integrity and policy, research committees, research culture and infrastructure, and institution-level partnerships and collaborations.

We are seeking a dynamic, proactive and service-oriented professional to join our team as Manager. Reporting to senior management, you will lead a team administering the University's health, life sciences and innovation & technology funding portfolio. You will set priorities, supervise and develop team members, drive process improvements, ensure compliance with funder and institutional requirements, and champion a collaborative, high-integrity research environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the administration of health, life sciences and innovation & technology funding schemes (e.g. Health and Medical Research Fund and its Research Fellowship Scheme, Chinese Medicine Development Fund (CMDF), ITC schemes), internal funding schemes, and related Mainland and joint programmes;
  • Provide leadership on research ethics governance, drive process improvements and ensure compliance across the grant lifecycle;
  • Develop strategies to promote HKBU research, build networks with key stakeholders, and maintain grant data and statistical reports; and
  • Carry out ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A good bachelor’s degree or above;
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience preferably gained in the higher education sector, experience in handling RGC grants and preparing statistical reports would be an advantage;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • Good project management skills, and capable of working independently in a dynamic working environment with self-motivation;
  • Strong sense of responsibility, meticulous, detailed-minded and able to multitask with the help of AI tools; and
  • Good team spirit, high attention to details and ability to deal with complexity.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
