Manager - Solution Engineering
As a Manager, Solution Engineering, you will lead and develop our Solution Engineering team in Germany. You will be responsible for building a high-performing team, hiring against growth plans, developing a scalable Solution Engineering strategy, and ensuring resources are effectively aligned across key territories in Continental Europe.
This is a player-coach role, requiring a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on involvement. You will work closely with your team to solve complex business challenges for prospective customers, support key opportunities, and contribute directly to business growth.
You will partner with Sales Leadership across the region to provide strategic insights into pipeline health, team performance, and win-rate improvement initiatives. You will also collaborate closely with Product Management, acting as a voice of the customer and helping shape our product roadmap through customer feedback and market insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Solution Engineering team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top Solution Engineering talent in line with business growth plans.
- Develop and execute a scalable Solution Engineering strategy across Germany and Continental Europe.
- Allocate resources effectively across territories to support business objectives and maximise impact.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance management, and meaningful feedback to team members.
- Act as an active Solution Engineering leader, partnering with the team on strategic opportunities and customer engagements.
- Support revenue growth by demonstrating business value, delivering compelling product demonstrations, and helping customers envision future success with Freshworks.
- Build scalable and repeatable frameworks, programmes, and best practices to support growth across the region.
- Partner closely with Sales Leadership to improve pipeline quality, forecast accuracy, and overall win rates.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Product Marketing teams to influence product direction and advocate for customer requirements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders, including C-level executives, providing both business and technical insights.
- Develop competitive strategies and enablement programmes that strengthen our positioning in the market.
Required
- Proven experience managing and developing high-performing pre-sales teams.
- Strong Solution Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Pre-Sales experience, ideally within the European market.
- Business-level fluency in German and English.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example through hands-on engagement, coaching, and mentorship.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong ability to influence and collaborate within a matrixed organisation.
- Experience working cross-functionally to drive measurable business outcomes.
Preferred
- Experience within the IT Service Management (ITSM) space.
- Strong understanding of enterprise software sales cycles and customer engagement strategies.
- Experience building competitive playbooks and partnering with Product Marketing on enablement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Master's degree is advantageous but not required.
