Opportunity
The Stewardship team exists to help ensure that all donors have a timely, consistent, and meaningful experience after giving to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
Reporting to the Director, Stewardship, the Manager, Stewardship is accountable for the implementation and delivery of the Foundation’s stewardship strategy, ensuring consistent, high-quality donor experience across all donor segments, with a strong focus on major and transformational donors.
The Manager provides day-to-day leadership to the Stewardship Coordinator and oversees the delivery of stewardship activities and outputs.
How You'll Contribute
Stewardship Program Execution
- Partner with the Director, Stewardship to operationalize strategic priorities and lead the execution of stewardship initiatives.
- Oversee the planning and delivery of stewardship and donor recognition activities for major and transformational donors, including recognition initiatives, impact and endowment reporting, donor correspondence, dedications, and events.
- Lead the execution of donor engagement plans that support meaningful, consistent, and relationship‑focused stewardship across the Foundation.
- Develop and maintain stewardship processes, tools, and templates that support consistency, scalability, and an exceptional donor experience.
- Lead cross-functional stewardship initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders, cancer care partners, and external vendors to deliver exceptional donor experiences.
- Manage stewardship program budgets and resources, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
- Uphold the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s Gifts Acceptance Policy, Endowment Policy and Donor Impact Standards.
- Provide insights and recommendations to support continuous improvement of donor engagement, stewardship outcomes, and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee the preparation of grant applications and required reporting for identified opportunities, ensuring all reporting requirements are met.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional donor experiences and fostering a culture of philanthropy.
Donor Communication & Events
- Oversee the development and implementation of key donor-facing initiatives, including Annual Stewardship Events and the Report to Our Donors in collaboration with internal and external partners
- Oversee the development and delivery of donor-facing deliverables including but not limited to, ad-hoc email updates, funding commitment reporting, digital donor wall, and donor celebrations.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the Foundation’s funding commitments, priorities, and donor stories to guide stewardship planning and execution.
People Management
- Lead the recruitment, selection, retention, and performance management to direct reports.
- Provide ongoing coaching and guidance, and supporting achievement of goals and priorities.
- Foster a high‑trust, supportive, and accountable team environment that promotes development and strong performance.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline or a minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Experience providing day-to-day people leadership, including coaching, goal setting, performance management, and supporting employee development.
- A strong understanding of donor stewardship processes and best practices
- Previous experience managing vendors and procurement processes is considered an asset
- Strong relationship building skills, with ability to foster ongoing partnerships
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects with excellence
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of and passion for healthcare philanthropy is considered an asset.
