KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage allocation of resources and execution of the operation including management information reporting, operational planning and support, administration, processing efficiencies and service performance for new business & underwriting.
- Develop the operations team as a customer centric service centre with the aim to deliver cost effective and efficient service to certificate owners, intermediaries and employees.
- Develop operational guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance with Group guidelines and maintain high quality service standard.
- Act as a specialist in providing operations advice and able to recommend strategic business solutions to improve efficiency of the business.
- To timely review any processing errors and analyze the operational impact and control measures (Preventive, Detective & Reactive) and escalate to management.
- Oversees and provide guidance and direction for new business & underwriting functions within the Company, and across the support departments.
- Responsible for the Operational readiness for any new products or special schemes which includes promulgating new business & underwriting guidelines, process workflow, SOP, and document/form.
- Monitor new business & underwriting standards and continuously review and initiate actions for staff with the aim of achieving service excellence.
- To ensure that processes and procedures are continuously reviewed for improvement and the changes are implemented effectively.
- Identify and mitigate risks in the new business & underwriting functions arising out of people, process, and system. Perform quarterly risk review and updates Risk Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of degree or equivalent, in Biology, Mathematics, Science, Genetics, Actuarial Science, Biochemistry, Nursing, Business Studies
- At least 7 years working experience primarily in Life and Health underwriting (Insurance/Takaful).
- Exposure in supporting various business network primarily in Agency and other important channel (i.e. Banca, Direct, Partnership and Alternative Business).
KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Understanding in Insurance/Takaful guidelines, principles & practices.
- Understanding in Insurance/Takaful system-applications (Back-end core operating system, e-Application, Imaging & Workflow system, Portal, etc).
- Involvement in technical requirement gathering and implementation plan of the product/non-products related projects.
- Excellent in both English and Bahasa Malaysia communication and writing skills.
- Good management, organizational and leadership skills.
- Good interpersonal and good communication skills.
- Multi-tasking capabilities with strong ability to plan, prioritize and manage projects.
- Resourceful problem solver, skilled in identifying and meeting needs.
