Position Summary

HUB International is seeking a Tax Liability Practice Leader to lead and scale the tax insurance business within its North American Transactional Risk Practice. This individual will serve as HUB’s principal technical and client-facing authority on tax insurance products — including tax liability insurance, IRA energy tax credit transfer insurance, and tax-related representations arising in M&A transactions. The role combines deep technical tax expertise with business development, underwriter relationship management, and internal education responsibilities, working in close partnership with the broader Transactional Risk Practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on tax insurance products, advising clients, deal teams, and internal colleagues on tax risk identification, structuring, and insurability
  • Grow the Tax Liability business at HUB through the following:
    • Originate and manage tax liability and energy tax credit insurance placements from initial risk identification through binding
    • Build and maintain relationships with tax insurance underwriters/carriers to drive placement strategy, pricing leverage, and market intelligence
    • Review tax opinions, transaction documents, and diligence materials to assess insurability of identified tax risks
    • Partner with the RWI team on deals where tax exposures intersect with broader representations and warranties coverage
    • Develop marketing materials, one-pagers, and educational content to build internal and external awareness of tax insurance solutions
    • Train and mentor TR colleagues and broader HUB producers on tax insurance fundamentals and cross-sell opportunities
    • Represent HUB TR at industry conferences, panels, and client events as a tax insurance thought leader
    • Track market trends in tax policy (e.g., energy credit transferability, legislative changes) and translate implications into product and client guidance
    • Contribute to the build-out of HUB's tax insurance practice, including process, documentation, and go-to-market strategy
