POSITION/ROLE OVERVIEW
The Mannes School of Music at the College of Performing Arts seeks a highly motivated student to serve as Mannes Performance & Ensemble, Student Assistants. We’re looking for two highly motivated, organized, responsible, and mature individuals to support initiatives within Mannes’ chamber music program, annual juries, staff piano services, masterclasses, and the annual concerto competition. This position reports to the Performance and Ensemble Manager and is an ideal position for students who are interested in a career in conservatory-style programs and/or higher education administrative work.
This position is open to student applicants with Federal Work Study awards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Mannes special projects, including the Chamber Music Festival, semesterly juries, annual concerto competition and more
Manage daily room requests for chamber music activities
Help log staff pianists’ hourly timesheets each week
Monitor the chamber music, juries, and accompanying email accounts
Interface with highly sensitive information, ensuring confidentiality
Provide other general administrative support upon request
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Fluency in Google Suite, word processing, and databases
Recipient of Federal Work Study award
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current student in a College of Performing Arts degree program
Graduate students preferred
Background in instrumental performance
Prior administrative experience
WORK MODE
Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions. #LI-DNI
Position Availability: This position is available starting Wednesday, 26 August, 2026 and will be open until filled.
Hourly Rate: $17
Hours per Week: on average, 10 hours per week – scheduled on an as-needed basis. Not to exceed 20 hours in a single workweek.
