What You'll Do
As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality precision metal parts, tools, and other components — operating a variety of specialized machinery and ensuring all work adheres to safety and quality standards.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Creating precision metal parts, tools, and components using a diverse range of equipment including lathes, milling machines (conversational and manual), micrometers, and various measuring devices
- Studying design criteria, reading and interpreting blueprints, and analyzing project specifications to determine the necessary equipment, materials, and processes for each job
- Developing and executing a comprehensive plan for each project, outlining the steps required to create the appropriate tools and components
- Preparing and operating machines to grind, cut, and polish raw materials and components to exact specifications
- Utilizing manual tools to finish projects, ensuring high-quality results and adherence to design specifications
- Continuously monitoring machine operations and product output to identify and address any deviations from quality standards
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions, material defects, or safety concerns to the supervisor
- Maintaining a clean, organized work area and ensuring all equipment is properly cared for
- Strictly adhering to all applicable safety requirements and protocols during all operations

Required Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED, OR 3–5 years of related experience or training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in machining or a related field
- Solid understanding of metal properties and machining processes
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with welding
- Experience with conversational mill machine operation
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on role in a manufacturing environment. Team members must be able to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, and crawl throughout the shift
- Regularly lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs. and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and communicate effectively
- Maintain close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, team members are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, oil, and grease. Team members occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and perform work from a variety of angles and body positions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Appropriate PPE is required and provided.
Travel
No travel is regularly expected for this position.
