Manufacturing Engineer 2 shift Position

Working as part of the manufacturing engineering team you will be responsible for developing, improving, and supporting the operations manufacturing processes and equipment to enable volume production of YASA products to our high-end customers.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, testing, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
  • Supporting manufacturing demand by relieving bottleneck’s and problem solving production constraints; attending breakdowns and reacting efficiency to escalation from manufacturing teams
  • Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements

Prepare product and process

  • Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service
  • Complete improvement and development projects by training and guiding technicians, operators and team leaders
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous proven experience working within a manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of continuous improvement methods and lean techniques
  • Familiar with process techniques and documentation such as FMEAs, Process Flows, Work Instructions, Control Plans etc.
  • Strong hands-on experience with bespoke equipment, tooling, and automation
  • Good understanding of design for assembly and manufacturing constraints for high-volume manufacture
  • Confident with both internal and external customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams
  • Creative problem-solving abilities with an analytical approach to implementation,
  • Results-orientated with the ability to deliver business value
  • Self-motivated with the determination to succeed
  • A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Desirable:

  • A degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
  • Experience working within an automotive Tier 1 environment

Experience using leading kaizen events and six sigma projects.
