About the Role:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a critical role in bringing new components and processes into production, with a strong focus on CNC machining of stainless steel components.

You will take ownership of manufacturing methods, tooling development, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring products are introduced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Lead the introduction of new components from design through to full production
  • Define and document robust manufacturing processes and machining strategies
  • Work closely with Design Engineering to optimise designs for manufacture

CNC Programming & Process Development

  • Develop and optimise CNC programs using CAM software (e.g. Mastercam, NX, Fusion 360)
  • Interpret technical drawings and 3D models to generate accurate toolpaths
  • Specify and improve tooling, fixturing, and workholding solutions

Continuous Improvement

  • Enhance machining methods to improve quality, repeatability, and cycle time
  • Support process capability studies, first-off validation, and production sign-off
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, scrap, and inefficiencies

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with CNC Programmers, Machinists, and Production teams
  • Provide hands-on support during trials and busy production periods
  • Maintain accurate manufacturing documentation (routings, instructions, tooling)

Health, Safety & Culture

  • Promote a strong safety culture, including BBSO and near-miss reporting
  • Support a proactive environment where employees feel empowered to act
  • Champion safe working practices, including stop-work authority

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role within a precision environment
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, and cutting strategies
  • Demonstrated experience machining stainless steel components
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD models
  • Experience with CAM software and understanding of G-code
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Practical knowledge of fixturing and workholding design
  • Background working across both shop floor and office environments
