Marine & Energy Treaty Underwriter

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Underwrite a portfolio of proportional and excess of loss reinsurance, utilizing a variety of experience and exposure analytical techniques as well as qualitative analysis.
• Lead negotiations on treaty renewals including the structuring and quoting of deals.
• Effectively communicate and build relationships with reinsurance intermediaries and cedents.
• Participate in conferences, seminars, industry events, and cedent meetings.
• Work closely with actuarial, finance, operations, and other business partners to build portfolio metrics and perform ad-hoc analyses.

What We’re Looking For

• 3-5+ years of relevant treaty reinsurance experience obtained at a leading carrier or intermediary.
• Proven ability to grow a network of broker and client relationships across diverse lines of business.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to find solutions.
• Self-starting entrepreneurial attitude.
• Command of reinsurance structures, pricing techniques, contract wording, and claims.
• Comprehensive understanding of modeling principles for both pricing and exposure management.
• Strong analytical, oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
