MARINE INSPECTOR TRAINING OFFICER

This vacancy is for a GS-1801-13, MARINE INSPECTOR TRAINING OFFICER located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SECTOR NEW ORLEANS INSPECTIONS DIVISION in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana.

You will serve as a MARINE INSPECTOR TRAINING OFFICER and be responsible for implementation and management of the unit's Marine Inspector/Port State Control Officer (MI/PSCO) training program, and serves as a subject matter expert providing technical expertise and training leadership in the compliance duties of marine safety, vessel inspection, pollution prevention and vessel manning laws, regulations, treaties, and international conventions. Typical work assignments include: Develops and maintains written, unit-level MI/PSCO training program guidance and procedures in alignment with applicable Regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, CFR), Coast Guard District, Area and Headquarters-level directives Sets qualification goals/timelines, and tracks trainee progress towards certification or recertification of MI/PSCO competencies required of inspector positions Chairs the unit MI/PSCO Qualification Board, recommending qualification of personnel to the unit's MI/PSCO certification authority after verification of completion of relevant qualifications and training Develops and regularly schedules unit training sessions to facilitate training and qualification of MI/PSCOs Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.
