Marketing and Education Specialist
MARKETING & EDUCATION SPECIALIST
Position Summary
HL7 is seeking a dynamic Marketing & Education Specialist to support two connected areas: marketing/communications and education program operations. This role leads membership and education campaigns, manages digital channels, supports webinars and training logistics, and delivers performance reporting that drives data-informed decisions across our marketing and education programs.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Success in your first year looks like this: membership acquisition and retention campaigns run on a reliable calendar with clear conversion tracking; education courses are supported by a targeted campaign that fills seats; HL7’s social and digital channels are actively driving traffic and registrations; and leadership can see what’s working and what can be improved.
Membership Acquisition & Retention Campaigns
- Support campaigns that attract new members and retain existing ones, including audience targeting, messaging, email outreach, landing page coordination, and follow-up.
- Develop and execute lapsed member marketing campaigns.
- Build and maintain audience segments for membership campaigns using HL7’s CRM and email marketing platforms.
- Translate member benefits into campaign messages and assets for distinct audiences, including providers, vendors, payers, government, and consultants.
Education Course & Certification Marketing
- Support marketing campaigns that drive registrations for HL7 education offerings, certifications, digital badges, corporate training, certified educator partner programs, and job board promotions.
- Create or adapt education-focused messaging for use across shared marketing channels, including email, social media, website, newsletters, and promotional materials.
- Conduct market and audience research to inform education campaign positioning, segmentation, and promotional timing.
- Maintain education marketing timelines so course dates, registration windows, and promotional deadlines are aligned.
Education Event & Program Support
- Assist with scheduling speakers for education events.
- Communicate with participants, educators, speakers, and community partners to support education event planning and delivery.
- Manage and track enrollment and attendance, and evaluations for education events.
- Manage project timelines for courses and education events.
- Prepare post-program reports that summarize participation, feedback, and follow-up actions.
- Set up and host free and sponsored webinars at the Education Manager’s direction, managing logistics, registration, and smooth live delivery.
- Manage webinar recordings.
Core Marketing/Communications Channel Management
- Manage the day-to-day social media calendar, drafting, scheduling, publishing, monitoring, and escalating engagement opportunities across membership, education, and broader HL7 priorities.
- Help maintain HL7 website content so key pages remain accurate, current, and aligned with active campaigns.
- Produce and adapt digital assets, including graphics, email templates, and short videos, in line with HL7’s visual identity standards.
- Implement marketing emails and campaigns in HubSpot, MailChimp, Propfuel, and other platforms as needed, using clean audience lists and accurate segmentation.
- Provide support as needed for presentation slides for Working Group Meetings, FHIR Connectathons, and DevDays.
Analytics & Reporting
- Maintain dashboards for membership, education, email, web, social, and campaign performance using tools like Google Analytics and platform-native reporting.
- Deliver regular performance reports with recommendations on what to continue, adjust, or improve.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in a communications and marketing role with hands-on campaign execution; association, nonprofit, or healthcare experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in scheduling and moderating virtual meetings, training, and events.
- Working proficiency with marketing tools: Canva, email marketing/automation platforms (HubSpot, MailChimp, Propfuel), CRM/AMS systems, social media schedulers, and Google Analytics.
- Strong copywriting skills.
- Attention to detail and proven follow-through across multiple campaigns and deadlines.
- Comfortable with data — building reports, spotting trends, and turning numbers into recommendations.
- Self-starter who notices what needs doing and takes the initiative to do it, and a team player who shares credit, asks for input, and pitches in when needed.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates based in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, or Texas.
