Responsibilities:

Technical leadership and design authority
Exercise technical authority over criteria, layouts, routing, arrangements, isometrics, supports, materials and deliverables; serve as Lead Designer, Discipline Lead or Program Lead when required; control scope, budget, priorities, resources, reviews and technical quality.

Advanced work supervision and resource management
Estimate workload, staffing, man-hours, milestones and support needs; develop, approve and control schedules, activity logic, issue dates, workshare, productivity, procedures, change control and team development.

Accountability for Piping deliverables
Lead preparation, review, coordination and issue of layouts, piping arrangements, pipe racks, 3D models, isometrics, supports, instrument connections, vents, drains, tie-ins, MTOs, quantities, requisitions, specifications, scopes, design bases and criteria.
Ensure expert handling of Piping Classes, material specifications, line lists, P&IDs, flexibility criteria, technical documentation, estimates and proposals.

3D model, design reviews and interface coordination
Lead 3D reviews; drive model navigation, present layouts, record comments, assign actions and close pending items; coordinate interfaces, model integration, clashes, criteria deviations and technical comments.

Quality assurance, checking and technical control
Act as Checker or review lead for Peer Check, IDC / Squad Check; verify methods, tools, design techniques and drafting; ensure deliverables are complete, traceable and fit for review, construction, operation and maintenance; support closeout of audits, non-conformities, etc.

Field, constructability and execution support
Lead field surveys, plant visits and site investigations; issue reports with sketches, photos, point clouds, restrictions and clashes; apply Brownfield, Plant Services and Site Services experience to tie-ins, accessibility, maintainability, constructability, prefabrication, erection and lifting.

Standards, continuous improvement and innovation
Develop project guidelines for modeling, drafting, naming conventions, quality, 3D reviews, deliverable issue and comment closeout; improve standards and processes to raise quality, reduce cost, facilitate maintenance, optimize execution and integrate digital tools.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
- Academic or technical high school diploma; drafter, technician, technologist or equivalent background in engineering design, mechanical design, technical drafting or Piping.
- Expert knowledge of standards, methods, practices, modeling/drafting criteria, deliverable issues, layout, routing, pipe racks, supports, flexibility, accessibility, maintainability, drain, vents, tie-ins, constructability, operation, P&IDs, Piping Classes, line lists, MTOs, requisitions, specifications, design bases, and criteria.
- Advanced/expert knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1 when applicable, ASME B16, ASTM, API, PIP, client specifications, internal standards and safety requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx and Navisworks Manage; SmartPlant, SmartSketch or other 3D platforms desirable. Knowledge of model review, clash detection, view extraction, conventional surveys and laser scanning: LFM Server, LFM, CloudWorx or equivalents. Proficiency in PipeData Pro, MS Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PDF editing/review tools.

Communication:
- Excellent command of the Spanish and English languages in both oral and written communication and skills. Basic/intermediate English desirable; intermediate/advanced English preferred for workshare, international coordination, and technical review.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
- More than 16 years of specific piping design experience in refineries, petrochemical, gas processing, energy, and industrial plants, or related industries; senior, lead, or supervisory experience, preferably at least 5 years leading, checking, or controlling senior designers.
- Participation in the different phases of design, assembly, commissioning, consulting, and/or auditing of projects for the Oil and Gas sector.
- Experience in complex projects, Brownfield, Plant Services, Site Services, detailed engineering, plant modifications, field surveys, 3D reviews, IFC deliverables, man-hour estimates, scopes, proposals, and deliverable control.
