Schedule: 2-2-3 Rotation | 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Pay: $27.00–$34.00/hour DOE + $2/hr shift differential

Milgard Windows & Doors, part of MITER Brands, is seeking a Material Conveyance Operator to support our vinyl extrusion manufacturing operations in Fife, WA. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of material handling and conveyance systems that support continuous production. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and comfortable troubleshooting equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Mandatory overtime may be required based on business needs.

Position Summary

The Material Conveyance Operator is responsible for maintaining uninterrupted material flow to production lines by operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting conveyance systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring production efficiency, minimizing downtime, and maintaining product quality through proper material handling and equipment maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor material conveyance systems including vacuum loaders, hoppers, silos, transfer lines, and related equipment to ensure continuous production flow.
  • Perform material and color changes according to production schedules while maintaining cleanliness standards and preventing cross-contamination.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance (PM) activities to ensure equipment reliability and maximize operational uptime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues including blockages, component failures, control system faults, and material flow disruptions.
  • Monitor raw material inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent production delays.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, material usage, equipment performance, and operational issues.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices and material handling requirements.
  • Partner with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to support efficient manufacturing operations and product quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, plastics, extrusion, or industrial production environments.
  • Experience operating material handling or conveyance systems.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment and conveying systems.
  • Technical training or certification in a related field.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, climbing, and repetitive motion activities.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery and industrial equipment.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, dust, heat, and raw materials.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
  • Mandatory overtime as needed to support production demands.
