Material Planner

We are currently seeking a Material Planner to join our dynamic team in Piove di Sacco (PD), Italy!

Ensure material availability to support production continuity, optimizing inventory levels, supplier performance, and delivery reliability. The Material Planner manages the short/medium-term supply plan, coordinating with suppliers and internal functions to prevent shortages and ensure customer requirements are met.

What kind of work will you be doing?

Material Planning & Supply Management

  • Manage material requirements according to production plans, customer demand, and MRP signals.
  • Monitor material availability and identify potential risks impacting production schedules.
  • Analyze shortages, constraints, and supply gaps, defining recovery actions with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters and ensure data quality in ERP systems.

Supplier Management & Expediting

  • Monitor supplier deliveries and ensure alignment with requested delivery dates.
  • Perform proactive expediting of supplier orders within a 3-month planning horizon.
  • Ensure timely supplier deliveries through expediting activities within a 3-month supply horizon.
  • Follow up on delayed materials, escalate critical issues, and coordinate recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and suppliers to improve delivery performance.

Production Support

  • Ensure material availability for production lines according to the manufacturing schedule.
  • Work closely with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics teams.
  • Support prioritization decisions during supply constraints.
  • Manage exceptions and implement mitigation actions to avoid production interruptions.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock according to business targets.
  • Support reduction of excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Balance availability needs with working capital objectives.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze material flow performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to process optimization projects related to planning, supplier collaboration, and supply chain performance.
  • Promote standardization and best practices within the Materials organization.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Material availability / shortage performance
  • Supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD)
  • Production schedule adherence
  • Inventory level and inventory days
  • Expedite activities and recovery effectiveness
  • Supplier capacity and delivery risk management

What will make you successful?

  • Experience in material planning, supply chain, or production planning roles.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in manufacturing environments (ideally engineer-to-order / configure-to-order).
  • Knowledge of BOM management, production flows, and supplier capacity management.
  • English language proficiency.

The anticipated salary range for this role in the Piove di Sacco (PD), Italy locality is between 38.000€ to 47.000€ gross per year [IF ROLE IS NON-EXEMPT: (based on a 40-hour work week)]—salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional benefits. Where applicable, a comprehensive overview of the full benefits package and any additional compensation will be provided during the initial interview. Compensation ranges are determined based on objective, gender-neutral criteria including skills, experience, and job responsibilities.
