Material Planner

Summary

This position plays a critical role in supporting the Materials and Operations Department through inventory evaluation and management, application of supply chain principles, and process improvement initiatives. The Material Planner must be able to perform root cause analysis, communicate findings effectively, and develop and implement solutions.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the availability of raw materials, components, and supplies required for production.

  • Maintain part number parameters updated (supplier information, active purchase orders, lead time, transit time, maximum/minimum levels, etc.).

  • Maintain inventory control based on established objectives.

  • Manage part usage, inventory levels, and forecasting to determine current requirements.

  • Meet individual and team KPIs established by the plant.

  • Maintain expected delivery (release) reports and open purchase orders.

  • Analyze pick lists from each plant to validate material requirements.

  • Ensure material receipts and invoices are processed accurately.

  • Provide the necessary documentation for import processes.

  • Monitor emails for production schedule changes.

  • Comply with established safety policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Implement and manage Kanban/Pull Systems within the assigned manufacturing area.

  • Work closely with the Operations and Shipping Coordinator to support daily plant objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) to support supplier development initiatives.

  • Identify root causes of material shortages and document corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Drive the implementation of visual management systems related to inventory management.

  • Implement Kanban and other ordering systems that support inventory reduction initiatives.

  • Analyze and track inventory audit results.

  • Provide timely reporting and analysis.

  • Study and standardize procedures to improve inventory accuracy and service levels.

  • Escalate risk situations appropriately with the necessary information for decision-making.

  • Perform weekly reconciliation of supplier shipments versus material receipts in the system.

  • Actively participate in internal, external, and Layered Process Audit (LPA) activities related to IATF requirements.

  • Resolve invoice discrepancies related to receiving issues in coordination with the Finance Department.

  • Participate actively in on-site activities such as training sessions, town hall meetings, recurring meetings, and physical inventories.

  • Comply with environmental and climate change policies.

  • Identify, control, and minimize significant environmental aspects related to the assigned work area.

  • Promote and follow good environmental practices.

Education / Experience / Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and MRP systems.

  • Knowledge of production planning, supplier management, and scheduling.

  • Inventory management and control experience.

  • Purchasing practices and follow-up experience.

  • Technical knowledge of freight administration.

  • English proficiency (spoken and written) – 80% preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position.
