Materials Planner
ABOUT LUMILENS
At Lumilens we are building the critical photonics infrastructure that powers tomorrow’s AI supercomputing. From chip-to-chip optical interconnects to scalable photonic engines, Lumilens is unlocking a new era of computing faster, cooler, and massively more efficient.
We’re a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by veterans who’ve built and scaled some of the most transformative technologies in the industry. This isn’t incremental innovation, it’s a ground-floor opportunity to rethink the optical layer from the silicon up. You’ll work alongside a team of world-class engineers solving some of the hardest challenges in optics, systems, and scale. Every decision you make will directly influence how we build, source, and deliver the infrastructure of tomorrow.
If you're looking for mission, momentum, and the chance to make an outsized impact, jump on the rocket ship. We’re just getting started.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Materials Planner to join our rapidly growing team. This role is critical in planning and ensuring material readiness across optical transceiver, silicon photonics, and related manufacturing operations that support our next-generation photonics products.
You will be responsible for demand, supply, and fulfillment planning within MRP, maintaining accurate bills of material and master data in ERP, and ensuring timely release of purchase planning signals and work orders to support optical module, transceiver, and silicon photonics builds. The ideal candidate will partner closely with procurement, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and inventory control teams to manage material availability, support engineering change activity, and provide clear visibility into shortages, line of balance, and build readiness. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on production continuity, inventory health, and on-time delivery.
What You'll Do
Own demand, supply, and fulfillment planning within MRP for optical transceivers, silicon photonics assemblies, and related components to support prototype, NPI, and production builds
Maintain accurate bills of material, part attributes, planning parameters, and master data in ERP to support material planning, order execution, and traceability
Release purchase planning messages to procurement in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply for long-lead optical, semiconductor, and electromechanical components
Release and manage work orders to production in alignment with build schedules, material availability, and manufacturing priorities
Update demand plans to reflect engineering change orders, revised build requirements, qualification activity, and product transitions, and communicate resulting material impacts to procurement and operations
Create and maintain visibility into material position through line of balance reporting, shortage tracking, clear-to-build reviews, and related planning metrics
Partner cross-functionally with engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to support product readiness and achieve company-wide delivery and inventory goals
Perform other duties assigned by your manager that are relevant to the role and evolving needs of the business
Key Qualifications
2+ years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or a related field
Proven ability to produce material line of balance analyses and conduct clear-to-build reviews in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of materials planning fundamentals, including master data management, order policy, bill of material control, planning release, and fulfillment execution
Proficiency with MRP and ERP systems used to support complex manufacturing and supply planning processes
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, mathematics, and statistics
Preferred Skills
Advanced proficiency in MRP and ERP systems used in high-mix, fast-scaling manufacturing environments
Prior experience in optical transceivers, silicon photonics, semiconductors, advanced electronics, or other disruptive manufacturing industries
Experience supporting rapid growth environments, including new product introduction, engineering change management, and production ramp planning
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and revision-controlled documentation
Familiarity with AS9100, U.S. export controls, or other regulated manufacturing requirements is a plus
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment
Why Join Us?
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance
