The role of our Mechanical Commissioning Manager is to ensure that building services systems are, will be or have been commissioned properly and in accordance with the relevant requirements.
The Mechanical Commissioning Manager (Contract) - Netherlands is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical building services systems are commissioned in full compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, industry standards, and regulatory obligations. This role provides technical leadership across the mechanical commissioning lifecycle, ensuring systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and ready for operational handover.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the mechanical commissioning team on site, providing technical direction and day-to-day supervision
- Act as the primary point of contact for all mechanical commissioning activities with the client, main contractor, and key stakeholders
- Plan, manage, and oversee mechanical commissioning schedules, ensuring alignment with overall project milestones and handover requirements
- Review, approve, and sign off commissioning documentation, test results, method statements, and completion dossiers
- Ensure all mechanical commissioning activities are executed in accordance with contractual requirements, industry standards, and statutory regulations
- Proactively identify technical risks, system interface issues, and commissioning constraints, implementing effective mitigation strategies
- Manage and coordinate interfaces between mechanical systems and other disciplines, including electrical, controls, BMS, and utilities, to ensure integrated system performance
- Provide leadership in troubleshooting complex HVAC, hydronic, chilled water, hot water, ventilation, pressurisation, and life safety systems during commissioning
- Oversee flushing, pressure testing, balancing, performance validation, and functional performance testing of mechanical systems
- Lead and witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) for mechanical plant and equipment
- Manage punch lists, deficiencies, and close-out activities to achieve timely mechanical system completion and client acceptance
- Support commercial and contractual discussions relating to mechanical commissioning scope, variations, and claims
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior commissioning engineers and technicians
- Ensure lessons learned are captured and incorporated into project and organisational best practices
Take overall responsibility for mechanical commissioning readiness, plant start-up approvals, and safe handover to operations
Preferred Qualifications
- BEng in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Demonstrated project management and commissioning management experience
- Additional modules considered advantageous\: Construction Contract Law, Construction Project Management, Building Services Engineering, Environmental System Design, Energy in Buildings, Time Management, and Presentation Skills
- Membership of CIBSE, ASHRAE, or equivalent professional body advantageous
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in commissioning/project management roles, ideally within Data Center or mission-critical environments
- Experience working within company Quality and Environmental Management Systems
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
