Mechanical Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing / Machining Technology
Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a mid-career engineer for the Advanced Manufacturing & Design group to lead initiatives related to Machining Technology. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in machining technologies, a strong commitment to quality, and a passion for innovation. This role is crucial in driving our manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with equipment development engineers and provide feedback on design for manufacturability
- Enhance machining efficiency through digital engineering initiatives involving CAD/CAM
- Work with Machinist Technicians on the recapitalization of machine tools including tracking of procurements and installation
- Lead effort to modernize software tool for tracking shop requests
- Serve as technical point of contact for external machining requests
- Represent SRNL at various working groups related to advanced manufacturing
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering role focused on machining technology
- For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering role focused on machining technology
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software
- Strong understanding of machining principles
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
