Mechanical Engineer
Position Summary
- Proper planning and execution of manpower, cost control, internal & external audits, risk assessment & KPI.
- Ensure department targets is fully achieved or close to achieving.
- Holds a higher responsibility in the overall activities of the Mechanical Department.
- Assist in Daily Operation of the Department
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Support foremen and engineers in pre-planning, generating programmes & follow-up of all jobs to utilize optimum resources – manpower, material and equipment needed.
- Able to coordinate with Project Managers / Engineers / Owner’s Representatives / internal and external supervisory staffs with work preparation, fabrication, and control of materials.
- Follow all site safety requirements to ensure the safety and wellbeing management of all stakeholders
- Constantly provide assistance to foremen/ tradesmen with resources as per job requirements.
- Ensure all safety requirements for those reporting to you and processes under your supervision is adhered to – raise Occurrence reports and Safety Infringements in case of non-compliance.
- Must have a certain degree of foresight to plan for manpower, material, and equipment to ensure smooth workflow and cost-effectiveness is achieved.
- Highly motivated to continuously improve oneself to be better and has a positive mindset in learning new things that will benefit you and the company.
- Able to motivate the team to ensure optimum performance, monitor the performance and provide continual appraisals for all subordinates.
- When encountering a problem which affects workflow, able to discuss and contribute constructing ideas with his working colleagues to come up with a suitable solution to the problems faced.
- Have the sense of ownership in the success or failures of their projects.
- To submit duly signed Work done reports timely for allocated vessels before their departure. (Note: All jobs must be accounted for and reflected in the reports for Commercial to Charge accordingly)
- Maintain all management system and production records. (Kept records for Future Internal Auditing)
- Prepare target and daily progress reports.
Job requirements
- 3-5 years above with relevant working experience
- Possesses sufficient knowledge on Marine Machinery Works.
- Self-initiative and highly motivated individual.
- Possesses good leadership skills to lead and supervise people under their charge.
- Able to give constructing advises based on their experience.
- Able to understand technical drawings.
