Medical Assistant II - Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery - Full Time

Job Description:
Position Summary: M - F 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
Supports providers with patient care, in-office procedures, and helps ensure efficient clinical workflow in a fast-paced surgical specialty environment. Assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes. Performs general administrative duties in accordance with JCAHO, CLIA, NCQA and government standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists providers with in-office procedures, including setup of instruments and supplies, wound care support, dressing changes, and suture or staple removal as directed.
- Obtains and documents age and/or condition-specific measurements accurately including vital signs, height, weight, and pulse oximetry.
- Supports perioperative workflow through patient education, post-procedure instructions, and coordination of follow-up care as directed.
- Obtains, documents and processes specimens using the appropriate collection process and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
- Performs rooming activities for provider visits according to the documented rooming criteria including chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, medication list review, tobacco history, LMP, health maintenance overrides and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Performs electronic visit chart preparation activities based on the daily scheduled appointments including diagnostic results, emergency/urgent care reports, operative reports, discharge summaries and consult/PCP notes, and other relevant records are in the medical record and accessible to the provider.
- Processes medication prescription refills per guidelines using telephonic, electronic or print methods.
- Handles prior authorization processes for medications and/or procedures and documents appropriately.
- Maintains clinical supplies and inventory, ensuring proper storage, organization, and appropriate par levels to support clinic operations.
Education/Experience/Licensure
MA I
Education: HS Diploma or GED required and One of the following:
- Graduate from an accredited MA Program.
- Graduate from an MA Training Program with externship.
- 1 year of relevant healthcare experience with formal training (LNA, EMT, Combat Medic).
- 1 year prior experience as a Medical Assistant.
Experience: 1 year of relevant healthcare exp. (can include externship), 1 -2 years exp. in a clinical ambulatory care setting preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Must possess BLS authorization upon 90 days of employment and maintain during employment. CMA, RMA or CCMA preferred.
MA II
Education: HS Diploma or GED required and One of the following:
- Graduate from an accredited MA Program.
- Graduate from an MA Training Program with externship.
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Experience: 1 year of relevant healthcare exp. (can include externship), 1 -2 years exp. in a clinical ambulatory care setting preferred.
Experience: At least 3 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant.
Certification/Licensure: CMA, RMA or CCMA required. Must possess BLS authorization upon 90 days of employment and maintain during employment
