Medical Assistant – Vera Whole Health

Location: 1450 Muldoon Rd, Suite 100, Anchorage, AK 99504

Schedule Options: Flexible 5×8‑hour shifts or 4×10‑hour shifts

How will you make an impact & Requirements

Your Role & Impact

Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Take manual vital signs, complete system reviews, and document in the EMR.

  • Perform point‑of‑care testing and assist with diagnostic procedures.

  • Administer immunizations, injections, and oral medications for all ages under provider direction.

  • Perform phlebotomy, prepare and process lab work, swabs, and specimens.

  • Observe and document patient reactions and support routine patient education.

  • Track preventive care needs, referrals, and follow‑up testing.

  • Coordinate care with specialists, disease management, and case management programs.

Clinic Operations

  • Manage patient flow to ensure smooth, efficient clinic operations.

  • Prepare exam and procedure rooms using proper sterile/aseptic technique.

  • Support front‑office tasks including phones, scheduling, and patient registration when needed.

  • Maintain inventory, order supplies, and keep clinical areas fully stocked.

  • Represent the clinic professionally in person, by phone, and at occasional off‑site events.

  • Travel to nearby sites for coverage when required.

Compliance & Quality

  • Perform and document QA controls accurately.

  • Follow all safety, infection control, OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA standards.

  • Maintain high‑quality medical record documentation.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Team Collaboration

  • Participate in team huddles, meetings, and shared care planning.

  • Engage in training, competency assessments, and continuous learning.

  • Support clinic performance metrics and adapt to flexible scheduling.

  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

  • Medical Assistant certification (AAMA preferred).

  • Phlebotomy certification within 90 days (where required).

  • Minimum 2 years of experience, ideally in primary or urgent care.

  • EMR documentation experience required.

  • Ability to maintain sterile technique and support office‑based procedures.

  • Understanding of immunization administration for all ages.

  • Strong communication skills, customer service mindset, and ability to multitask.

Employee Health Requirements

  • Hep B vaccination or proof of immunity

  • Negative TB test within 12 months

  • Current CPR/BLS certification

  • Annual influenza and COVID‑19 vaccinations per company policy
