Member of Technical Staff, Reporting and Statements (Backend Engineer)

You will design and implement APIs and service layers that deliver financial reports and statements. You will build reliable integrations between backend services and the data platform, ensuring correct data flow and robust error handling. You will shape architecture decisions for API and service delivery, balancing accuracy, performance, and scalability. You will collaborate with data engineers on data contracts and SLAs and partner with product to design self service data APIs. You will operate and maintain services in production, including monitoring, incident response, containerized deployments, and cloud native operations.

Responsibilities

Design and implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints that serve financial data
Build service integration layers between backend services and the data platform
Ensure reliable data flow and implement robust error handling
Shape architectural decisions for API and service delivery infrastructure
Balance accuracy, performance, and scalability when delivering reporting products
Collaborate with Data Engineers on data contracts and SLAs
Partner with Product to design APIs that enable self service access to financial data
Champion API design best practices and service reliability standards
Operate and maintain services end to end in production

Requirements

5-7+ years building backend systems and production services
Experience designing and shipping production APIs and services that handle complex business logic at scale
Service stewardship mindset with responsibility for services end to end in production environments
Proficiency in Go or Python and hands on experience building RESTful APIs
Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL or BigQuery, including query optimization and connection pooling
Knowledge of data consistency patterns
Cloud native development experience, preferably on GCP, including containerization, monitoring, and incident response
