Position Summary

The Gasoline & Diesel Fuel Trader will manage and grow a refined products trading book while executing trading strategies and maintaining key customer relationships. This role emphasizes physical markets, logistical arbitrage, and disciplined risk management, and requires strong commercial judgment, deep market connections, and the ability to unlock value across supply chains and paper markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute physical gasoline and diesel trades with refiners, wholesalers, terminals, and end users, managing both buy- and sell-side activity
  • Identify and capture arbitrage opportunities across time, geography, and product quality differentials
  • Analyze market fundamentals, including supply–demand dynamics, macroeconomic factors, and regional disruptions, to inform trading positions
  • Negotiate and structure purchase and sale contracts, including price, volume, specifications, logistics, timing, and payment terms
  • Optimize logistics across truck, rail, pipeline, storage, and marine transportation to maximize efficiency and margin
  • Hedge trading exposures using futures, swaps, and options, ensuring adherence to defined risk limits and strategies
  • Build and maintain strong counterparty relationships while actively developing new customer and supplier opportunities
  • Monitor and manage contract execution, ensuring accurate follow-through, delivery, and closure of all transactions
  • Deliver consistent P&L performance through disciplined execution, market insight, and risk management

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (or the equivalent in work experience) preferably in Agriculture, Business, Finance Economics or related major

  • 5+ years of refined-products trading experience (gasoline, diesel, or related)

  • Proven success in physical trading and logistical arbitrage

  • Strong understanding of futures markets and hedging strategies

  • Knowledge of storage economics, pipeline systems, and terminal operations

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

  • Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
