MIMJ, Manager Institutional Sales
The opportunity
The position focuses on all aspects of client services and RFPs for institutional clients in Japan. The primary focus of these institutional clients is public pension funds, corporate pension funds, and university endowments, while the secondary focus is financial institutions.
The position supports relationship managers as well as sales members in their business development activities, and manages all client services, regular and ad-hoc RFPs, and regular reporting.
Responsibilities
- Managing all client services for Japanese institutional clients, including RFPs and regular reporting, based on information from global offices (Boston, Toronto, London, and Hong Kong)
- Managing all requests and inquiries from public pension funds, corporate pension funds, university endowments, large financial institutions, pension consultants, gatekeepers, and third-party distributors
- Preparing and submitting RFPs in response to requests from prospective clients, working closely with sales members, the global RFP team, operations team, and investment teams
- Preparing and delivering regular and ad-hoc reports to existing clients and consultant firms based on their requests, in collaboration with relationship managers, operations team, and investment teams
- Preparing and delivering semi-annual and annual DDQs for existing clients and consulting firms
- Attending client and consultant meetings and preparing meeting memos
- Supporting the onboarding process for newly awarded mandates in collaboration with relationship managers (led by the institutional sales team and coordinated with operations, investment, legal & compliance, and accounting teams)
- Covering asset classes including traditional assets (Japanese equities, global equities, Japanese fixed income, global fixed income, multi-asset strategies) and private assets (infrastructure, timberland and farmland, and private credit)
How will you create impact?
This role reports to the Head of Institutional Sales in Manulife Investment Management Japan (MIMJ) and the Head of Global Relationship Management in Boston, U.S.
This role helps maintain existing institutional client relationships while supporting new mandate wins and business expansion in Japan.
What we are looking for
- More than 10 years of experience in the asset management industry
- More than 5 years of experience in client services
- Native Japanese and fluent English
- Experience handling RFPs
- Strong teamwork skills

Based on seasonality.
Salary
Based on company Work Rules, taking into account experience, skills, and knowledge.
Commutation allowance and variable incentive bonus are paid in accordance with company policy.

Standard working hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (including 1-hour break)
