At Ipsen, we are looking for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Oncology, based in Barcelona, who, under the direction of the Oncology Medical Lead, will act as the Ipsen scientific reference for the oncology portfolio in the designated territory, as well as the first point of contact for any scientific project deployed in the designated territory.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Field Activities
Conduct mapping and profiling of key stakeholders (primarily Thought Leaders – TLs) within the assigned territory.Build and maintain close relationships with TLs in order to position as a trusted scientific partner.Identify unmet medical needs and relevant regional insights, ensuring their effective communication to the appropriate stakeholders within the organization.In collaboration with Oncology Medical Managers, implement and monitor national and international medical projects and studies at the local level.
Regional Plan and Budget Management
Lead the regional medical plan for both marketed products and pipeline assets within the Oncology area, aligned with the National Medical Plan.Monitor the regional medical budget and ensure accuracy of forecasts.
Project Management
Lead the management of medical projects included in the regional plan mentioned above.
Providing Scientific Information
Respond in a professional and timely manner to unsolicited, properly documented requests from the field and from internal and external stakeholders, providing clinical and scientific information mainly related to disease-specific questions, as well as Ipsen Oncology portfolio products and research programs.
Scientific Knowledge Development and Maintenance
Act as the scientific expert for Ipsen’s Oncology portfolio and relevant therapeutic areas within the assigned territory, continuously monitoring emerging scientific evidence.Organize and coordinate regional Advisory Boards when required, ensuring key insights and relevant information are shared within the organization.Lead regional scientific exchange meetings.Support healthcare professionals, including Thought Leaders, in line with Ipsen’s strategy, by providing reactive (and when appropriate, proactive) scientific information and clinical data.Attend relevant scientific congresses to engage with healthcare professionals, expand knowledge in therapeutic areas of interest, and prepare scientific summaries for internal dissemination.Support internal knowledge dissemination on products and therapeutic areas, aligned with company strategic priorities.Maintain ongoing communication of best practices and facilitate knowledge sharing between medical teams and cross-functional field teams.Contribute to maintaining, improving, and promoting Medical Information services and medical services overall, in line with Business Unit strategy and Ipsen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Cross-functional Collaboration
Maintain close collaboration with local and global medical teams.Work closely with field teams, as well as Commercial and Market Access departments.Act as a scientific reference point for field teams operating within the same territory.
Compliance and Governance
Ensure that all scientific support provided is balanced, up-to-date, accurate, and compliant with both the spirit and the letter of EFPIA codes, applicable local regulations, and Ipsen SOPs.This includes maintaining high professional and ethical standards in line with Ipsen’s SOPs, safeguarding the company’s reputation.Keep training records up to date.Participate in the periodic review of internal SOPs to ensure compliance with current regulatory requirements.
Who are we looking for?
Requirements:
Education: University degree in Biomedical Sciences, MSc, PhD, MD, PharmD.
Experience: 2 to 4 years in the pharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs, including MSL position. Experience in rare diseases is a plus.
Languages: Expert/fluent communicator in Spanish and English.
Technical Competencies:
Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
Strategic thinking and strong analytical and numerical skills.
Ability to build strong relationships and work in a team.
