Municipal/Civil Engineer
AECOM has a Municipal/Civil Engineer opening to be based in our Calgary Office, AB office.
The appropriately qualified candidate will have knowledge and experience in civil engineering, civil technology and construction management principles and be familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. They will have a high level of initiative, and motivation, and display drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. They will be expected to support the delivery of infrastructure projects to customers mostly within the municipal water, wastewater and stormwater sector.
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Assist Senior Engineer with a design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance facilities.
- Perform construction inspections,
- Perform construction contract administration.
- Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
- Prepare construction cost estimates.
- Assist in the preparation of project specifications and contract documents.
- Additional responsibilities will include assistance with proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation and coordination with regulatory agencies
- Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
- Identifies discrepancies in results.
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- 4+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, and contract administration.
- Experience with municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater conveyance and pumping infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications :
- 8+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, and contract administration.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients.
- Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Experience in the condition assessment of municipal infrastructure is a benefit.
- Experience in proposal writing and job scoping is a benefit.
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
