ACCIONA Mechanical & Electrical is a specialist division within ACCIONA, delivering end-to-end mechanical and electrical design, construction, installation and commissioning services that support the transition to a low-carbon future.
Position
The National Construction Manager, Transmission is responsible for the effective coordination and control of all construction activities related to transmission line and associated infrastructure projects, including overhead and underground transmission systems. This role encompasses oversight of engineering, procurement, scheduling, and construction delivery to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements.
You will drive consistency and best practice across multiple projects nationally, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives in safety, quality, time, and profitability. From mobilisation through to commissioning and handover, the role ensures successful project delivery, meeting client expectations while managing risk, resources, and stakeholder engagement across geographically dispersed sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with TNSP standards (e.g., AusNet, Powerlink, Transgrid)
- Enforce ISO, WHS, and client systems across all transmission sites
- Manage non-conformances, incidents, and defect close-out
- Oversee HV safety training, competencies, and site inductions
- Liaise with HSE teams, unions, and safety committees
- Ensure timely, accurate IFC drawings (alignments, structures, stringing)
- Provide constructability input (access, easements, HV safety, methodology)
- Manage design changes and integrate into schedule and cost forecasts
- Lead audits, inspections, environmental compliance, and corridor engagement
- Build stakeholder relationships (landholders, authorities, regulators)
Required Skills and Competencies
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering or Transmission Lineperson Trade Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role on transmission projects
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in a Tier 1 construction environment
- Strong knowledge of transmission construction methodologies, including tower erection, conductor stringing, underground cable installation, and commissioning of high-voltage transmission infrastructure
- Familiarity with utility standards (e.g. Powerlink, Transgrid, AusNet) and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments.
- Proficiency in project management software
