The Opportunity
In conjunction with renewed Energy market volatility, our US Trading group is currently looking to add a Natural Gas Trader (North-East Region) to our growing US Gas Marketing team, based in Houston, TX.
Reporting to the Manager, US Gas Trading, this position will collaborate with our Trading & Marketing teams to design, develop and implement physical and financial gas strategies that ensure customers receive reliable energy, focusing on the North-East Natural Gas Market. We are seeking an experienced professional with expertise in negotiating gas transactions and analyzing / monetizing market intelligence which will be key in creating value in today’s energy markets.
What you’ll do
- Pro-actively contribute to the financial success of the TCEM Gas Trading Team through the identification, execution, and successful management of both Asset-backed & Proprietary Trades
- Negotiate the purchase and sale of daily, monthly, and seasonal gas positions
- Deploy VAR across defined trading regions through sophisticated and balanced trading strategies
- Actively contribute to the development and evolution of deep, broad & proprietary market insights across the North-East region as well as the broader L48
- Manage both existing and prospective customer relationships to foster liquidity and opportunities
- Work on implementing liquidity, proper governance, and transaction visibility
- Manage commodity, transportation and storage positions within company approved limits
- Optimize existing & prospective assets / positions to maximize earnings
- Understand contractual commitments and scheduling with gas pipelines required
- Provide input on economic routing alternatives and other supply options
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-Secondary Degree in statistics, math, finance, commerce, or other relevant discipline
- 10 - 15 years of related experience
- Proven & demonstrable positive PnL development history
- Demonstrated ability to articulate fundamentals driving the current and future natural gas market (Supply/Demand/Infrastructure) and make decisions based on this information
- Proven ability to conceptualize & mathematically apply risk / reward proposition to all transaction decisions
- Understanding of Capacity Release bidding and execution
- Experience interacting with Pipeline EBB’s, online exchange (ICE) and pipe transportation scheduling systems
- Knowledge of energy contracts like Futures, OTC, Options, shaped contracts, collars, and other derivatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Proprietary knowledge of, and insight into specific tariffs & operations along ANR, TCO and CGT, as well as regional 3rd Party pipes such as TETCO, TRANSCO, TGP, AGT, TCO, IROQOUIS, MARITIMES
- Strong financial acumen and ability to conceptualize & articulate risk vs opportunity
- Familiarity with NAESB type standard agreements & driving increase access to market liquidity
