All care is delivered while supervising learners; teaching includes dedicated formal teaching time and trainee evaluation. The selectee must demonstrate continued effort to stay abreast of emerging literature and guidelines and participate in section meetings, quality improvement initiatives and committee activities.The position includes on-tour time designated for self-directed scholarly work, which is expected as part of dual VA and Yale appointments. Recent repeated experience in paracentesis, lumbar puncture and point-of-care ultrasound preferred but not required. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, typically with 1 weekend day in-house while on service. Eight months per year is designated for clinical work and the remaining time for self-directed academic pursuits.
