Position Type: Intern, Onsite
About Peak Energy
Peak Energy is the first American venture to advance globally proven Sodium-Ion battery systems as the storage standard for the new era of renewable energy on a resilient grid.
Sodium-Ion is cheap, readily available and safe, making it the leading contender in a rapidly evolving market.
Our leadership team is powered by decades of expertise in scaling gigawatt-level innovation at world-class companies such as Tesla, Northvolt, SunPower, Fluence, and Enovix. We are backed by strategic investment and product partners such as TDK Ventures and Eclipse Ventures.
We are a team of engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, and partners driven by a shared ambition to set the new performance standard for renewable energy and grid resilience.
About the Team - Energy Storage Supply Chain (ESS SCM)
The Energy Storage System Supply Chain Team leads sourcing, supplier development, and qualification of outsourced components and assemblies for Peak Energy's Battery ESS Products. The team is accountable for the technical and commercial performance of our ESS supply chain, driving quality, cost, and delivery outcomes across a complex global supplier base.
About The Role – NPI Materials Planning Intern (Fall 2026)
Peak Energy is looking for a NPI Materials Planning Intern, to support the material planning and purchase order placements. As a NPI Materials Planning Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the strategy and operations behind launching and scaling a cutting-edge battery product. You'll support key initiatives across sourcing, logistics, planning, and supplier engagement for our next-generation sodium-ion battery program.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn how to build a supply chain from the ground up and to make a meaningful impact on domestic clean tech manufacturing.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Maintain and update material requirements (MRP) data as the build plan changes, translating evolving build schedules into clear part-level demand.
- Track parts and long-lead items, and help stay on top of the bill of materials.
- Monitor inventory levels, flag shortages and at-risk parts early, and help expedite critical materials to keep builds on schedule.
- Partner daily with engineering, procurement, production, and receiving to reconcile what was planned versus what actually arrived and was consumed.
- Help maintain accurate item, supplier, and lead-time data in the ERP/MRP system so planning outputs can be trusted.
- Build simple reports and dashboards (shortage lists, open-PO status, plan vs. actuals) that give the team a clear daily picture.
What You'll Bring (Qualifications)
- Currently pursuing a degree or recent graduate in supply chain, industrial/manufacturing engineering, operations, business analytics, or a related field.
- Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel/Sheets) and comfort working with data; exposure to ERP/MRP systems is a plus, not a requirement.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented — you notice when numbers don’t reconcile and chase down why.
- Clear communicator who can coordinate across engineering, procurement, and production without dropping threads.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and frequent change; able to re-prioritize as the build plan shifts.
- Interest in hardware manufacturing, batteries, clean energy, or building a domestic supply chain.
What You’ll Gain:
- Exposure to building a supply chain from scratch for an innovative ESS product
- Hands-on experience with supplier strategy, materials planning, and logistics in a high-growth startup environment
- Mentorship from experienced supply chain leaders working at the intersection of energy and manufacturing
- A chance to work on meaningful projects that directly contribute to the energy transition
Our Core Values
- Speed Through Focus - Move fast but understand why. Focus on the goal, don't sacrifice quality.
- Mission Over Self - It's about the greater good; confident humility. Take ownership and accountability.
- Face the Brutal Truth - Transparency, honesty, big picture curiosity. Fearless decision making.
- Be a Good Person - Kindness, collaboration and teamwork.
