Occupation Therapy Assistant (OTA) Lab Assistant
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Part-time OTA Lab Assistant will be responsible for the maintenance of the department’s training labs at the Corsicana and Midlothian locations. This position will act in a supervisory role for students during lab activities. The Part-time OTA Lab Assistant will take direction from the Program Director and/or the OTA faculty.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and break down lab environments.
- Prepare supplies and equipment for lab sessions.
- Maintain organization of lab spaces and storage areas.
- Clean, disinfect, and reset materials between student groups.
- Conduct skills practice sessions under direction of the OTA faculty.
- Act as a standardized patient during simulations and challenges.
- Assist with simulation and challenge setup and flow.
- Uses rubrics to score student performance on simulations and challenges.
- Provide structured feedback to students.
- Provide tutoring or remediation support for students during labs.
- Inventory and restock supplies.
- Maintain and organize assistive technology and durable medical equipment.
- Report broken or missing equipment.
- Assist with ordering supplies or tracking usage.
- Label and store equipment properly for easy access.
- Ensure adherence to infection control procedures.
- Monitor safe use of equipment.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) sheets and safety documentation.
- Ensure lab and simulation environments meet safety and accreditation standards.
- Assist program director and academic fieldwork coordinator with clerical support, including the management of student and fieldwork documents.
- Collaborate with program director to maintain social media presence.
- Coordinate pinning ceremony.
- Support the College by attending various events (i.e., Bulldogs Serve, Bulldogs Unite, Commencement ceremony)
- Perform other duties as requested by the OTA Program Director and/or faculty.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Initial certification as a COTA or OTR.
- Current licensure as an OTA or OT in the State of Texas.
- Associate degree
- Two (2) years of clinical experience in the occupational therapy field.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.
- Travel to Midlothian and Corsicana locations
SALARY: SALARY: $30 - $40 per hour - Commensurate with Education & Experience
