Occupational Therapist

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Serves as Occupational Therapist at a Medical Referral Center providing inpatient and outpatient services to Federal prisoners referred by physicians, mid-level practitioners or dentists. Functions autonomously in the specialty area, but will also be a member of a rehabilitation team providing the latest evidence-based care to a diverse patient population in this unique setting. Provides occupational therapy services to patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical, functional and/or health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. Establishes a plan of care and manage the needs of the patient based on examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, goals, and outcomes of planned interventions of identified impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions. Collaborates with multiple medical, mental health, and correctional staff to provide comprehensive care to federal inmates. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
