OIC Cloud Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an OIC Cloud Engineer based in the United States.
This is a senior cloud engineering role focused on designing, building, and operating enterprise-scale infrastructure on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). You will be responsible for creating secure, scalable, and highly available cloud environments that support mission-critical applications across Oracle and hybrid ecosystems. The role spans architecture, automation, DevOps, networking, security, and ongoing platform operations, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure-as-code and modern cloud-native practices. You will work closely with application, database, and security teams to deliver resilient cloud solutions aligned with enterprise standards. The environment is highly technical and fast-paced, requiring strong engineering discipline, problem-solving ability, and a deep understanding of cloud platforms. This position also offers exposure to advanced OCI services, multi-region architectures, and enterprise DevOps practices.
Accountabilities:
- Architect, deploy, and operate enterprise OCI environments including landing zones, compartments, and tenancy structures aligned with governance standards.
- Design and implement OCI networking architectures including VCNs, subnets, DRG, FastConnect, IPSec VPN, and hub-and-spoke topologies.
- Build and manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and OCI Resource Manager with version control and automated validation practices.
- Implement identity and access management (IAM), RBAC models, and federation with enterprise identity providers.
- Deploy and manage OCI compute, storage, and Kubernetes (OKE) environments optimized for performance and scalability.
- Operate OCI database services including Autonomous Database, Exadata Cloud, and other Oracle database platforms in collaboration with DBA teams.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using OCI DevOps or external tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using OCI-native tools and third-party platforms.
- Design and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity strategies across regions and availability domains.
- Strengthen cloud security posture using OCI security services such as Cloud Guard, Vault, Security Zones, and Data Safe.
- Optimize cloud costs through right-sizing, resource lifecycle management, and architectural improvements.
- Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, and Terraform to reduce operational overhead.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and contribute to cloud engineering best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of cloud engineering experience with strong hands-on expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Proven experience building and managing infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
- Strong knowledge of OCI services including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and database offerings.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE).
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native workloads.
- Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash for automation and operational tooling.
- Deep understanding of cloud security principles, IAM, and enterprise compliance requirements.
- Experience with observability tools, incident response, and production support.
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills.
- Familiarity with FinOps, multi-cloud architectures, or regulated cloud environments is a plus.
- OCI Architect Professional certification or similar is highly desirable.
