We are currently looking for an Operations Assistant – Sea Cargo to join our Mexico City office. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented logistics professional who enjoys working in an international environment and is eager to develop a career in ocean freight operations.
What will you do?
As an Operations Assistant – Sea Cargo, you will provide operational and administrative support to the Ocean Operations team, ensuring the smooth coordination of international ocean freight shipments while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Provide outstanding customer service by maintaining close communication with customers regarding the status of their shipments.
Request shipment status updates from shipping lines, warehouses, and logistics service providers.
Review, process, and manage documentation related to ocean freight shipments.
Search for and validate ocean freight shipment references.
Process and transmit shipment information through the corresponding operational platforms.
Update internal operational reports and shipment records.
Prepare cost estimations using CargoWise.
Upload and approve supplier invoices through the Centro CFDI system.
Follow up with suppliers to obtain pending invoices and supporting documentation.
Process electronic invoices in the corresponding internal systems.
Perform required Validacarga transmissions for ocean freight shipments.
Update shipment milestones, including ETA, ETD, ATA, and ATD, within CargoWise.
Maintain accurate shipment files and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
Support the Operations team with day-to-day logistics coordination and administrative activities.
Required Qualifications
Previous experience in Ocean Freight Operations, Logistics, Freight Forwarding or a related field is preferred.
Basic knowledge of international logistics and ocean freight operations.
Experience using CargoWise or similar logistics software is an advantage.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
Proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
Good command of English (written and spoken) is required, as you will communicate regularly with overseas offices, international agents, shipping lines, and global customers.
