We are looking for an experienced and inspiring Operations Manager to lead operational excellence across our UK business while supporting our wider global network.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, regulated environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional service to customers across Direct-to-Patient (DtP), Cell & Gene Therapy, commercial pharma, and clinical trials.

What you’ll do
As Operations Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring our operations run efficiently, compliantly, and in line with business objectives. You will work closely with the General Manager and wider leadership team to support operational delivery, budget management, team development, and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
Maintain a strong understanding of the current regulatory landscape across all service areas, including DtP, Cell & Gene Therapy, commercial pharma, and clinical pharma
Partner with the General Manager and Administration Manager to develop the annual budget and manage direct and indirect costs in line with approved targets
Lead, coach, and motivate Operations Controllers and wider associates to achieve business goals and high performance standards
Review, refine, and evolve departmental responsibilities to meet the changing needs of customers and the global network
Support the General Manager with operational and strategic priorities as required
Represent World Courier externally with relevant trade groups, such as the Freight Transport Association
Take ownership of local staffing, including recruitment and headcount management
Support HR-related activities, including policy development and people processes
Contribute to employee financial review processes and annual bonus distribution
Travel regularly across UK and global locations as part of the role
Support additional business priorities as required by the General Manager

What we’re looking for
We are seeking a confident and capable operations leader who brings deep industry experience, commercial awareness, and a collaborative leadership style.
Essential skills and experience
Minimum 10 years of industry experience, including operational, client-facing, and commercial roles
Proven ability to perform all aspects of an Operations Management role to a consistently high standard
Experience taking ownership of projects and driving them through to completion
Strong ability to provide relevant business and operational information when required
Demonstrated success in resolving internal and external customer issues quickly and creatively
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish, both written and verbal
Ability to delegate effectively and provide clear direction
A collaborative approach, with the ability to share knowledge and develop others
Full driving licence
