Operations Manager

Reporting to the Managing Director South East Asia, the Operations Manager in Singapore is accountable for the management, planning and direction of all activities within the laboratories including Chemistry, Microbiology, Sample Reception and other operation functions. This role aims to deliver high quality and cost effective service to customers ensuring that all compliance, operational, contractual and financial objectives are met.

The Operations Manager at Mérieux NutriSciences AQ provides strong leadership to the Laboratory team, fostering an environment of communication, consultation, and continuous process improvement. This leadership will result in enhanced operating policies and procedures, establishing the Laboratory's reputation as a top-class provider of testing services.

Your main missions:

  • Deliver daily high-quality services to customers and develop operations targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to lead and motivate laboratory and support staff
  • Drive the “Find a Better Way” program by facilitating problem-solving sessions to determine root causes and implementing Lean / Continuous Improvement principles across all areas of our business
  • Lead and ensure laboratories use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) completely and efficiently, and consistently drive for continuous improvement of the system
  • Work with Managing Director and commercial team to develop and innovate new capabilities to support business growth
    Manage costs in line with budgets and business plans, drive proactive cost-saving initiatives, and plan annual CAPEX requirements
  • Work with Quality and Technical team, ensure that all laboratory systems, including technical and quality procedures are aligned with company requirements, ISO/IEC17025 requirements, Good Laboratory Practices, and other government regulations and recognitions
  • Lead workplace health & safety participation and proactively promote safe behaviour and injury prevention. Through ongoing engagement with staff, ensuring health & safety at work is top priority and top of mind for all.
  • Work with SEA management team, support in other projects in SEA
  • Support in Mergers and Acquisitions opportunities, and lead the integration of new laboratory
  • Ensure that Critical results and issues are escalated to Managing Director
  • In conjunction with the Managing Director and HR, build and grow the laboratory team, identify high-potential talent, and ensure development opportunities and succession plans are in place

Your profile:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Food Laboratory Operational management
  • Strong background in food microbiology or chemistry labs with deep knowledge of food testing methods and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated success in improving productivity and decreasing operational costs
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, analyze complex problems, and guide an organization toward positive outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills enable an efficient communication with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong ethical standards, confidentiality and integrity
