Operations Supervisor (Warehouse/Transportation) - 2nd Shift

Overview

This candidate will be integrally involved in the daily transportation need of the Groton Shipyard, including but not limited to: forklifts, trucks, tractor trailers, and transporters, which may include moves made off-site. Must have detailed knowledge of transportation responsibilities and be capable of directing multi-trade personnel as well as the ability to interact with all levels of management. Individual will be in charge of material flow throughout the shipyard, off-site locations, Quonset Point, and major moves.

This is a second shift position.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years transportation experience such as FDFL, truck driver, Scheuerle operator, and or transportation planner
  • Knowledge of CT and Federal DOT regulations
  • Must possess strong PC Skills such as MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, Passport, Mainframe, Oracle
  • Willingness to travel locally to support Groton and off-site major moves

Preferred:

  • 3+ years leadership experience
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Knowledge of fleet operations
  • Knowledge of Transporter Operations
  • Knowledge of Shipping and Receiving Operations
  • Knowledge of Corrigo, PEWO's, and VReq's

Skills

  • Individual must be well organized and self motivated with strong leadership qualities
  • Must have ability to multi-task and interface with all levels of management
  • Candidate must be good communicator and be capable of directing multi-trade personnels
