Job Description
This role is responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing Oracle databases, while also contributing to DevOps initiatives involving CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation, and cloud migration. The position requires strong technical expertise in Oracle database administration, performance tuning, and modern deployment practices to support scalable and reliable database operations.
Responsibilities
Database Administration
• Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases across development, test, and production environments.
• Develop and maintain database schemas, tables, views, indexes, and related database objects.
• Optimize SQL queries and database structures for enhanced performance and reliability.
• Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot database performance issues.
• Implement and manage robust backup and recovery strategies.
• Manage user access, roles, privileges, and overall database security.
• Diagnose and resolve database incidents in a timely manner.
DevOps & Automation
• Automate database deployments and updates using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Git.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline database releases and change management.
• Apply Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to provision and manage database infrastructure.
• Deploy monitoring and alerting tools to ensure database health, availability, and performance.
• Collaborate with application development teams to ensure smooth database integration during build and deployment cycles.
• Support migration of databases to cloud platforms.
• Automate recurring database tasks using scripting languages (Python, Perl, Shell).
Cloud Skills
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., RDS, Cloud SQL) is an advantage.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in Oracle database administration or database engineering.
• Proficiency in Oracle Database administration and development.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and SQL*Plus.
• Strong understanding of database performance tuning and optimization.
• Experience with Oracle RMAN, Data Guard, and related HA/DR technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience using IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Familiarity with scripting languages including Python, Perl, or Shell.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and cloud-native database services.
• Experience with Git for version control and source code management.
