Technology Management

Database Expertise
Possesses in-depth knowledge of multiple database technologies, including:

Oracle Technologies
Expert-level understanding of Oracle database administration, including:

  • Performance tuning (e.g., SQL optimization, indexing strategies)
  • Security best practices (e.g., Oracle Data Redaction, user privilege management, database auditing)
  • High availability and disaster recovery (e.g., Data Guard configuration, failover testing)
  • Backup and recovery (e.g., RMAN backups, point-in-time recovery)
  • User and access control management (RBAC)
  • Advanced features (e.g., partitioning, materialized views)

Exadata Operations
Strong understanding of Exadata architecture, including:

  • Storage management (e.g., Storage Cell configuration, Intelligent Storage Pool)
  • Performance optimization (e.g., In-Memory technology, InfiniBand networking)
  • Integration with Oracle database features for optimal performance

Microsoft SQL Server
Expert-level understanding of SQL Server administration, including:

  • Performance optimization (e.g., query tuning, indexing strategies)
  • Security best practices (e.g., Always Encrypted, data masking, role-based security)
  • High availability and disaster recovery (e.g., Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering)
  • Backup and recovery (e.g., transaction log backups, point-in-time recovery)
  • User and access control management
  • Advanced features (e.g., partitioning, replication)

MySQL Databases
Expert-level understanding of MySQL administration, including:

  • Performance optimization (e.g., query optimization, buffer pool management)
  • Security best practices (e.g., user privileges, encryption in transit and at rest)
  • Replication configurations (e.g., master-slave, multi-master replication)
  • Backup and recovery (e.g., mysqldump, binary backups)
  • Advanced features (e.g., partitioning, stored procedures)

Additional Capabilities

  • Stays up to date with industry trends, emerging database technologies, and security best practices
  • Designs and implements solutions to optimize performance, scalability, security, and resource utilization, including:
    • Capacity planning and resource allocation
    • Performance tuning and bottleneck resolution
    • High availability and disaster recovery implementation
    • Database security design and enforcement

Database Design & Security

  • Leads the design and implementation of secure database configurations across Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and Sybase environments
  • Defines and enforces security policies (access control, encryption, auditing)
  • Implements advanced database security features

Operational Excellence

  • Develops complex scripts to automate database administration tasks and improve efficiency
  • Monitors database health, performance, and availability using advanced tools
  • Troubleshoots complex issues (e.g., performance degradation, data corruption) and identifies root causes

Governance (Risk, Policy & Processes)

  • Adheres to established database administration policies, security standards, and operational procedures
  • Identifies and assesses database-related risks and recommends mitigation strategies
  • Contributes to the development of governance frameworks in collaboration with the Database Manager

Change Management

  • Participates in planning and executing database changes in line with change management procedures (e.g., change windows, rollback plans)
  • Provides technical support to ensure clear communication of changes and impacts to stakeholders
  • Supports development and testing of database change scripts
  • Assists in implementing rollback procedures when required


Requirements:
7+ years of experience in Oracle DBA roles
Strong experience in OCI, Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate
Experience in database migration and performance tuning
