Orthopedic Mobility Technician PRN

🦴 What You’ll Do
Patient Care & Cast Services
- Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and traction devices under the direction of orthopedic providers
- Monitor patients for changes in skin integrity and promptly communicate concerns
- Support patients and families by educating them on care plans for casts, splints, traction, and halo devices
- Help ensure each patient feels informed, comfortable, and cared for throughout their treatment
Inpatient Collaboration
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff regarding traction setups, troubleshooting, and potential complications
- Provide patients with clear, written instructions on cast care and prevention of complications
- Assist with patient mobility using Hoyer lifts and support safe transport across care areas
- Partner with lift teams and patient transport teams to ensure safe, coordinated care
Environment & Equipment
- Maintain appropriate supply levels and ensure the cast room is clean, organized, and ready
- Clean and care for equipment following proper infection control protocols
Operational Support
- Accurately charge for supplies and equipment used
- Provide support in the operating room alongside orthopedic surgeons when needed
🎓 What You’ll Bring
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year of orthopedic experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred
OR two years of related experience in lieu of formal education - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
✨ Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Clear and compassionate communication skills
- Clinical training background such as nursing assistant, corpsman, or EMT experience
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment
- Strong prioritization skills when managing multiple responsibilities
- Knowledge of sterilization, safety, and infection prevention protocols
